Video background editor
Remove or replace a video background on iPhone
Generate an editable person mask, refine its edges, choose a replacement background, preview the composite, and export it.
What you can do
- Use person segmentation or chroma key
- Correct foreground and background areas manually
- Choose color, image, transparent, or supported video-style backgrounds
- Preview and export with shared geometry settings
How it works
Open a recorded video, generate or restore its compatible masks, refine the result, select the background, and preview the composition. Export creates a new rendered video while preserving the source.
Good to know
Several pipelines are available: Apple's Vision person segmentation, optional machine-learning refinements, and chroma key. If an optional model is not available on the device, PromptFy falls back to Vision-only masks instead of failing.
Masks are stored per video and reused, so reopening a take does not start over. Preview and export share the same mask and settings, which means what you see in the editor is what gets rendered.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a green screen?
No. Person segmentation can work without one; chroma key is an additional option when you do use a controlled-color background.
Can I correct imperfect edges?
Yes. The editor includes manual mask corrections and edge-related controls.
Can I use my own image or video as the background?
Yes. Besides a color or a transparent background, you can pick an image, and the editor also supports video-style backgrounds. Foreground and background can be moved and scaled independently.
