Independent video projects

Combine recordings into an independent video project

Join recordings from different scripts in PromptFy, organize an independent project, and reuse source takes without replacing their own edits.

How the tool works

A recording keeps its individual edit. Joining it with another source creates a project with its own identity, so you can reuse a recording in several projects while preserving its individual edit. The script screen separates Recordings and Projects into tabs.

The Library gains a Projects view with names, thumbnails, durations, takes, sounds, and media sizes. Start a project from scratch, join recordings from different scripts, use dubbed versions, or import videos from Photos and Files in your chosen order. Imported sources are copied into the app; deleting a project keeps its source recordings.

Build it step by step

Decide the intended order before selecting sources. Open Library → Projects to start a project, or use Join recordings from a script with several recordings.

  • Choose the recordings in the order the viewer should see them, rather than the order they were recorded.
  • Add sources from other scripts when the explanation needs another scene or a different example.
  • Review the project name and its first frame so you can recognize it later in the Library.
  • Trim repeated context at each join and balance the audio between the recordings.
  • Reopen the project from the Library to continue its saved edit without rebuilding the source list.

An example to adapt

Illustrative exercise: combine a problem statement from one script, a practical demonstration from another, and a closing recorded later. The project becomes a complete lesson even though its sources were created separately.

Keep the opening recording available for a shorter variation. Start another project with that same source and a different demonstration; the two assemblies can serve different audiences.

Check before finishing

Deleting a project preserves its source recordings, but deleting a recording removes its clips from projects that use it. These are different actions. Timeline assembly requires Starter or above; check the app for account access before starting a complex edit.

Yes. A project has its own identity and the recording keeps its individual edit.

Where is a project with two scripts listed?

It can appear under both scripts and in Library → Projects.

Can I start without recording something first?

Yes. New project also accepts imported videos and can contain only imported material.
