Style video titles and text for each take

How the tool works

Each text gets its own font, spacing, colors, background, opacity, and accent bar. The Headline shortcut creates an editable title. Texts can stay attached to their source recording or explicitly apply to all takes.

Build it step by step

Open Text for the relevant source and decide whether the message belongs to that recording or every take. A presenter-only reminder belongs in presentation notes instead.

• Write a short label that can be understood while the viewer continues watching the action.
• Choose the font and line spacing, then add contrast through text color or a background.
• Use the accent bar only when it clarifies the title rather than competing with the subject.
• Check the source scope and explicitly choose all takes only for a genuinely project-wide message.
• Review the text over cuts, duplicated clips, and the chosen project frame before export.

An example to adapt

Illustrative exercise: a demonstration has three recorded steps. Add a step label to each source rather than placing the same instruction over every take. Give all three a consistent appearance so the viewer recognizes the sequence.

Use the Headline shortcut for the opening title, then edit its wording and look. Keep a supporting label shorter than the headline, and check both on a phone-sized preview before deciding they fit.

Check before finishing

Text attached to a recording follows that source’s takes through cuts and reordering. A project-wide text has a different scope, so check it when adding unrelated footage. Video text is distinct from captions: editing a title does not correct spoken-word transcription or create narration.
