Captions for added audio

Add captions to narration and imported audio

Generate and edit captions for an added sound in PromptFy. Keep its words aligned through moves and trims and choose a readable caption style.

How the tool works

A selected added sound has Generate captions with a language choice. Recognition analyzes that source, not the whole project mix. Its words retain source timing and follow the clip through moves and trims, which helps keep a narrated demonstration readable after picture changes.

Edit captions opens the sound’s phrases and preview. Correct the text, choose a template, adjust the size, and move the captions on the picture. Each added sound keeps its own captions and style instead of borrowing every choice from another source.

Build it step by step

Select the spoken added sound and listen for a clean passage first. Choose the language actually spoken by that source, including imported narration.

  • Generate captions for the selected sound and wait for recognition to finish.
  • Read each audible phrase against the recording and correct names, numbers, and unfamiliar terms.
  • Choose a template with sufficient contrast and adjust size and position for the project’s frame.
  • Move or trim the sound only after checking its phrases, then verify the remaining captions.
  • Play any overlapping voices and confirm which caption the viewer should read at each moment.

An example to adapt

Illustrative exercise: import a spoken explanation for a product close-up and generate captions only for that audio. Correct the product name, then keep the captions below the feature being demonstrated.

Move the narration later to match the product’s appearance. Its caption timing moves with it; watch the join again to confirm that the words and visible action still agree.

Check before finishing

Regeneration that fails or finds no speech preserves the previous captions. Added-sound captions support templates, text, size, and position, but not every font, animation, or timing control offered for video captions. Muted added speech contributes neither visible captions nor speech intervals for lowering background audio.

The timeline editor requires Starter or above. Check the app for current feature access and purchase options before planning your edit.

Frequently asked questions

Is the entire mixed soundtrack transcribed?

No. Generation for an added sound recognizes the selected source rather than the project mix.

What happens when I move the sound?

Its captions follow the sound’s timing and trims; review the preview after the move.

Can I give each narration a different style?

Yes. Each captioned added sound keeps its own template, size, and position.
